How to unlock Lepic in The First Descendant

To dominate as Lepic in The First Descendant, however, you’ll need to unlock him first. Here’s how to get Lepic in The First Descendant:

  • 400,000 Gold
  • Lepic Enhanced Cells
    • 200,000 Gold
    • 290 Semi-permanent Plasma
    • 499 Monomolecular Extractor
    • 34 Highly-concentrated Energy Residue
    • Lepic Enhanced Cells Blueprint
  • Lepic Stabilizer
    • 200,000 Gold
    • 571 Superfluid
    • 462 Shape Memory Alloy
    • 43 Crystal Biogel
    • Lepic Stabilizer Blueprint
  • Lepic Spiral Catalyst
    • 200,000 Gold
    • 519 Metal Accelerant
    • 554 Carbon Crystal
    • 60 Complex Carbon Activator
    • Lepic Spiral Catalyst Blueprint
  • Lepic Code

Yet another very long list of research materials. However, the hardest parts to get are always the Blueprints and Code.

To make life easier, here’s a cheat sheet that goes over the best way to obtain all the Core Research Materials for Lepic in The First Descendant:

Lepic Core MaterialAmorphous Material PatternHow to earn Amorphous Material PatternHow to reconstruct Amorphous Material PatternLepic Core Material drop chance
Lepic Enhanced Cells Blueprint012Complete Sterile Land Block Kuiper MiningComplete the Stunning Beauty Void Intercept Battle15%
Lepic Stabilizer Blueprint004Complete Kingston Defend Albion resourceComplete the Grave Walker Void Intercept Battle38%
Lepic Spiral Catalyst Blueprint010Complete Sterile Land Unknown LaboratoryComplete the Stunning Beauty Void Intercept Battle15%
Lepic Code013Complete Vespers Lumber Yard: Vulgus Strategic OutpostComplete Void Fusion Reactor: Vespers Ruins3%

You may look at the 3% chance of obtaining the Lepic Code with disdain. Unfortunately, to get any higher odds, you’ll need to be playing in Hard mode — and even then your chances only improve to 10%.

I’ve chosen the routes to get the other Lepic Core Research Materials as they’re the highest chances you’ll get for reconstruction on normal mode, and they entail missions that are easy to repeatedly farm.

With Lepic now a part of your roster, let’s go over his skills and playstyle so you know how best to handle him in The First Descendant.

Lepic playstyle and skills explained in The First Descendant

Knowing all of Lepic’s skills will help you play with him effectively in The First Descendant, so let’s go over them and his playstyle.

Here are all of Lepic’s skills in The First Descendant:

  • Close Call is Lepic’s passive skill. Upon receiving fatal damage, he gains Close Call for five seconds. Whilst Close Call is active, Lepic can’t move and is immune to damage. When it ends, his max HP is restored.
  • Grenade Throw simply throws a grenade forward to explode upon impact.
  • Overclock grants Lepic Overclock, which adds the Burn status effect to the Grenade Throw and Overkill skills whilst active.
  • Traction Grenade throws a grenade forward that pulls in and damages enemies inflicting towed on them.
  • Overkill equips Lepic with a unique weapon. Whilst this is equipped, his MP gradually reduces until it runs out, which will unequip the weapon. The projectile this unique weapon shoots is a large projectile that deals significant damage and continually damages through a wide radius.

Lepic’s skills are very simple and mostly consist of throwing grenades to blow up enemies. With Close Call, Lepic’s playstyle will become dependent on throwing himself into the thick of it whilst dealing as much damage as he can.

Being able to buff two of his grenade skills allows Lepic to focus solely on pointing at the enemy and dealing damage — a simple yet effective playstyle, making him beginner friendly yet still useful in combat.

If you are to play Lepic, you’ll need to keep yourself wherever the enemies are and litter them with your offensive abilities.

Best Lepic build in The First Descendant

Now that you’re familiar with the playstyle of Lepic in The First Descendant, let’s go over the best gear for him.

Best Lepic Modules

The Modules you equip for Lepic will dictate his effectiveness and how strong he performs in battle. By prestiging him and using Energy Activators, you’ll be able to equip more Modules.

Here is a list of all the Modules I’d recommend for Lepic:

Lepic ModuleModule Effects
Increased EfficiencyWhen using Overkill, MP is no longer gradually used. Instead, it gets consumed when attacking with Overkill active, but this is refunded if a critical hit lands.
Shortswordreplaces the charged sub attack with a Shortsword.
Focus on FireIncreases Fire Skill Power and Skill cooldowns.
Fire MasterIncrease Skill Power and Fire Skill Power.
Strong MentalityReduces Skill MP Cost.
Skill ExpansionIncreases the area of effect for certain Skills.
Increased ShieldsIncreases max Shields.
Skill InsightIncreases Skill Critical Hit rate.
Increased HPIncreases HP.
Focus on TechIncreases Tech Skill Power and Skill cooldowns.
MP CollectorWhen an enemy dies, there’s a chance to gain MP.
Frugal MindsetReduces Skill MP cost and increases Skill effect range.

The best Modules for Lepic are to do with making his Skills stronger – as that’s all he’s really got going for him. Increasing their radius and critical hit chance makes his grenades reach further and affect more enemies, clearing more of the field at once.

Ensuring that he has an easier time to use his skills, by reducing costs and increasing MP gain, Lepic will be able to bombard much more often, making him a great asset to his team. Don’t worry too much about his survivability as he can revive with the Close Call passive skill.

To make these Modules even more effective, make sure you’re upgrading them.

Best Lepic Reactor Stats

Naturally, all of Lepic’s skills have Fire attributes, meaning you’ll want a Burning Reactor, as these ones benefit from Fire attribute Skills.

There are different types of Burning Reactors that pair well with different skill types. Lepic’s Grenade Throw and Overkill skills are Tech Skills, and Overclock and Traction Grenade are Singular Skills.

If you want his Singular Skills to receive higher damage, go for a Burning Singularity Reactor. If you want his Tech Skills to receive higher damage, go for a Burning Mechanics Reactor.

I’d personally recommend you go with the Burning Mechanics Reactor as Grenade Throw and Overkill are both damage-dealing skills. and Overkill is incredibly powerful.

Best Lepic External Components

Equipping the best External Reactors for Lepic will ensure that he’s at the top of his game all the time.

Considering that many different External Reactors end up buffing the same stats in The First Descendant, I’ll tell you which ones to look out for and you can pick the strongest ones:

  • Increase max Shields
  • Increase DEF

Considering Lepic has a good deal of health points and can revive through Close Call, I’d suggest you beef up his abysmal Defence and increase his max shields to make sure you’re covered.

Alternatively, you could keep increasing his max health points. As he revives, taking advantage of a second pool of health, your +HP External Components are technically doubled, making them even more effective.

Best Weapons for Lepic in The First Descendant

Lepic may rely on his explosive grenades to fell his foes, however, a great gun will determine his effectiveness in battle.

For Lepic, I couldn’t recommend anything other than the ultimate weapon Thunder Cage.

The Thunder Cage is a meta weapon at the moment and you’re likely tired of hearing about it, however, its results are hard to argue with. Other than the extra damage it deals to other enemies thanks to Overcharge, this weapon has a great DPS and a huge damage output. It’s hard to argue with fast and pure power for a Descendant as explosive as Lepic.

For the rest of his loadout, I’d recommend having a shotgun and a scout rifle. Shotguns will allow you to take advantage of the close quarters that Lepic will be in. And the scout rifle will allow you to hit weak points to keep up high damage against specific enemies. As Lepic doesn’t need to be running around all the time, you can get away with some precise aiming.

Now that your Lepic build is the best it can be in The First Descendant, you can go forth and play in style. When you’re ready to move on, however, make sure you know how to unlock each Descendant in The First Descendant.
